Common name:Mexican Fan Palm
Botanical name:Washingtonia robusta
The Mexican Fan Palm is a very tall, rapidly growing palm with large, fan-shaped leaves. It has a tropical look, and can grow several feet a year. This species is excellent for larger yards and lining streets.

Botanical name:Cereus peruvianus
This cactus can grow 25' high and produces large, white blooms. It does best in full sun and dry soil.
Common name:Murphy's Agave
Botanical name:Agave murpheyi
This is a medium-sized Agave to about 3' tall and wide. The blue green to gray green leaves show striking bud imprints of the surrounding leaves. This Agave tolerates extreme heat and full sun with minimal supplemental irrigation. It is similar to Agave americana but with a smaller scale. The pups will fill in after the parent dies.

Botanical name:Aloe ferox
Cape aloe forms a dense 2'-3' clump of muted, green leaves borne on a tall trunk eventually to 12'. It has thick, wide fleshy leaves edged with prominent reddish-brown teeth. Dried leaves persist on the plant and offer sunburn protection. In late winter or early spring, the plant produces 3' candelabra spikes of intense orange red or even yellow tubular flowers. It grows in full sun to part shade. It suffers in reflected heat in the low desert. It is a South African native.

1. Break up hard paved surfaces to create spaces for water to seep through.
2. Remove and replace the surfaces with permeable paving.
