The California Fuchsia is a perennial with dense, fuzzy, gray green foliage that reaches 3' tall and 5' wide, with a sprawling habit. This plant tolerates poor soil.

It is drought tolerant once it's established but will do better with occasional summer watering. Flowers attract hummingbirds. Tolerates alkaline soil. Will naturalize slowly.
